Ware Shoals School District 51, also known as Greenwood District 51, serves students from portions of three counties – Abbeville, Laurens, and Greenwood*. Ware Shoals High School (grades 7-12) and Ware Shoals Elementary (grades 4-6) are located in the town limits of Ware Shoals, and Ware Shoals Primary (grades PK-3) is located in Laurens County. The district is home to 1,040 students and 170 employees. Our schools provide a safe and nurturing environment for all students. All schools in the district are fully accredited by the South Carolina Department of Education. The high school is also accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Ware Shoals is a close-knit community, located on the banks of the Saluda River. The city of Greenwood is 15 miles away, and the cities of Greenville and Anderson are only 40 minutes away. Erskine College, Lander University, and Piedmont Technical College are all located within 20 miles.
