The Alumni Association of Ware Shoals Schools

 

The Alumni Association of Ware Shoals Schools was formed in 2003 as a “nonprofit corporation duly organized under the laws of the State of South Carolina” and has a 501C3 classification with the Internal Revenue Service.  The purpose of existence of The Association is:                       

                        To provide charitable and educational assistance by raising funds

                        and utilizing other means of support for the furtherance of

                        educational activities for all schools in and around Ware Shoals,

                        including but not limited to, support of physical facilities, educational

                        experiences, teaching opportunities, and athletics.  This corporation

                        shall be organized and operated exclusively for charitable, educational,

                        and recreational purposes described above.  No part of any net earnings

                        shall inure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual, and

                        no substantial part of the activities of this corporation shall be for

                        carrying on propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence

                        legislation and this corporation shall not participate in, or intervene

                        in (including the publishing or distributing of statements), any

                        political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate

                        for public office.  This corporation shall irrevocably dedicate its assets

                        to charitable, educational, and recreational activities.

Since being formed The Association agreed to participate in the QZAB program in the amount of $5000.00 payable in five equal payments.  Other projects completed by The Association include:

1)     replaced the stage curtains and window treatments in the High School auditorium

2)     assisted in retiring an outstanding debt of the Annual Staff

3)      purchased a quality sound system for the auditorium 

4)      purchased a set of risers for the auditorium stage

5)      made a cash donation the Band Aide program in the amount of $1000.00

6)      purchased a portable sound system for the Elementary School
 
7)      replaced the roof of the field house
 
               8)      made a contribution of $1,000 to the Lou Brissie Field project
 

All of the above projects were funded by proceeds from The Gatherings, a basketball tournament, softball tournaments, Variety Shows, a golf tournament, and donations from alumni, businesses, and friends in and around Ware Shoals who have a direct or indirect connection to the Schools within School District 51.

The Association can only continue to fund projects within the School District with your help.  The Board of Directors encourages you to support our projects, participate in our fund raising activities, and together we can make a difference.
